Description

" JOHN W. H. DOUBLER.
-lmpr'o-vemet in Bag Ties.
No. 125,795. Patented Apri|1-6,18'72.
WITNESSES, vMmmml l o# JOHN W. H. DOUBLER, OF DARLINGTON, WISCONSIN, ASSIGNOR 'IO HIMSELF AND WILLIAM LOGUE, OF SAME PLAGE.
' IMPROVEMENT IN BAG-TIES.
Specification forming part of Letters P atent No. 125,795, dated April 16, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I,'JoHN W. H. DOUB- LER, of Darlington, in the county of La Fayette and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Bag- Ties; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description ofthe construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specication and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawing is a representation of a perspective Viewr of my invention. Fig. 2 is a front View. Fig. 3 is a plan View. Fig. 4 is a side View. l
My invention has relation to the fastening of bags, grain-bundles, &c., and consists in the novel construction of a wire device to be used in connection with the` tying-cord, for the purpose of fastening its ends, as hereinafter described.
In the construction of my improved bagfastening, I take a piece a malleable wire about two inches in length and bend `it around, so as to form a ring, A. I then bend up the ends of the wire to the form of hooks or Shanks, terminating in eyes or rounded shoulders, B.
Iu using this device I tie a cord, b, to the ring A, pass it around the mouth of the bag,
as shown in Fig. l; thence around the wirenecks b underneath the shouldersB, and inall y press it down between said shoulders, where the Wire will pinch and hold it tightly. When a small cord is used the space a may be closed by pressing the ends ot' the Wire together. The ends of the Wire, it will be noticed, are bent at right angles to the plane of the ring, or nearly so, in order that they may project sufficiently to enable the cord to be wrapped around them.
The device described provides a means whereby bags, bundles, &c., may be quickly fastened, and made much tighter than by the ordinary method. K
Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The bag-iastening device, consisting of a.
piece of wire bent to form the loop A, hooks bf, and loops or shoulders B, in combination with a cord or cords, substantially as speciv fled.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
JOHN W. H. DOUBLER.
