To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, AUGUSTUS GOODMAN, EDWIN GOODMAN, and DAVID CowEN, citizens of the United States, residin at New York\ city, in the county of New ork and State of New York, have invented certain new and 'useful Improvements in Measuring-Machines; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. This invention relates to measuring machines and has for an object to provide a device fonlling a plurality of bags, cartons, or other containers at simultaneous, operation with predetermined equal quantities of a powdered, granular or similar material.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device having a plurality of chutes communicating with a hopper or other receptacle, such chutes being adjustable as to length to vary their capacity, with improved means for cutting oil communication between such chutes and the hopper and improved means for discharging the contents into the receptacles.
A further object of the invention is to provide improved means for adjusting the capacity of the chutes to receive and discharge predetermined quantities of material.
With these and other Objects in view the invention comprises certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed. j Y

The improved measurin machine which forms the subject matter o this application comprises ahopper or container 10 of any approved form and capacity and supported in any approved manner. In the bottom of the hopper a flooring 11 is provided having a plurality of holes formed therein and tubes 12 secured therein and extending beand partly in seclow such ooring. Below the ooring 11 frame or base 13 is provided and a slide 14 is mounted to move in such frame or baseabutting the lower ends of the tubes 12. The slide 14 is provided with openings 15 adapted to at times register with the lower ends of the tubes 12, as indicated more particularly at Fig. 3 and at other times to be out of registry and close the ends of such tubes as indicated at Figs. 1 and 4. Secured also to the frame or base 13 are tubes 16 forming part of the chutes and in registry with the tubes 12 so that when the slide 14 is moved with the holes 15 in registry with the tubes 12 there is a continuous passage from4 the hopper 10 through the tubes 12 and 16.

-Beneath the discharge spoutsv23 a receiving frame 24 is provided holding a plurality of bags, cartons or other containers 25 in properly spaced position to receive material from the spouts 23 as indicated more particularly at Fig. 1.

We claim: ln a measuring device, a container, tubes extending downwardly therefrom, a basey portion provided with apertures through which said tubes project, the base projecting laterally from the sides of the container, a
plurality of hangers secured to the container and having threaded portions at one end, the upper end of each hanger being provided with an offset portion whereby the threaded portion projects laterally from the base of the container, a frame adapted to be carried below the container, tubes mounted within said frame and arranged to telescope with the tubes first mentioned, brackets carried by the frame and projecting laterally therefrom, said brackets being disposed immediately below the oiset portions of the hangers, nuts carried by the hangers and engaging the with apertures, said slide being carried by the frame, and a second apertured slide carried by the base of the container.
