Abstract
FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: method is carried out by hydrogenation of 2-ethylhexene-2-al-1 with the help of hydrogen-containing gas. The process takes place at 80-130 C and at pressure 0.1-5 MPa in the presence of Pd/AlOand alkyl butyrate. 2-ethyl hexanal being isolated of thus prepared hydrogenation product is separated into gaseous and liquid phase. Mentioned above gaseous phase which comprises hydrogen and easily volatile materials is recycled and then is used together with hydrogen-containing gas for hydrogenation. Said liquid phase which comprises alkyl butyrates and 2-ethyl hexanal is then oxidized at 40-50 C with the help of oxygen or oxygen-containing gas. Thus obtained oxidate is rectified together with desired acid being run off the bottom part of the column and with alkyl butyrates being run off its top part. Thus prepared product is separated in two streams, the former being fed for oxidation, the latter for hydrogenation. Mass ratio of 2-ethyl hexanal and alkyl butyrate in mentioned above former stream is 1: (0.5-5.3). Mass ratio of 2-ethylhexen-2-al-1 and alkyl butyrate in mentioned above latter stream is 1:(0.5-5.3) respectively.
