Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform fast rotation detection by obtaining an increasing signal from a magnetic sensor with fast response and obtaining a high-accuracy absolute signal by one light shield plate, a light emission part and a light reception part. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic pattern 16 is provided on the flank of the light shield plate 15 in specific form and a sensor 17 which detects the magnetism of the pattern 16 is provided; and the sensor 17 detects the magnetism with mutually opposite polarities by the rotation of a shaft 1 and outputs the increasing signal 17a. A magneto-resistance element having fast response to magnetism originally is used as the sensor 17. The light emission part 11 and light reception part 12 are fixed on both sides of the light shield plate 15 and light is received by light receiving elements 12a and 12b through the window 10 of the light shield plate 15 which rotates to generate two-phase sine waves 13a and 13b which are 90 deg. out of phase with each other; and they are processed by a signal processing part 7 to obtain the absolute signal 7a. Then fast rotation is detected with the signal 17a which varies monotonously with high resolution and fast response and the high-accuracy signal 7a.
