Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase not only the crosstalk property but the space frequency property, by increasing the size of a flat light flux incident to a condenser lens in the direction of its longer diameter more that the effective aperture of the condenser lens. CONSTITUTION:A flat light flax 2a irradiated from a collimator lens 3 is turned into a flat light flux 2b via a polarized beam splitter 4, a 1/4 wavelength plate 5, etc. to be made incident to a condenser lens 9. Then an optical system is set up so that the size of the flux 2b in its longer diameter direction is larger than the effective aperture of the lens 9 and at the same time the longer diameter direction of the flux 2b is parallel to an information track 13. As a result, the longer diameter direction of a light spot 10 becomes orthogonal to the track 13. In such constitution, the spot 10 can be sufficiently stopped down to increase both the crosstalk property and the space frequency property.
