Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide exact indexing and positioning of a work-piece by putting an indexing pin into or out of the tooth space of the workpiece through an actuator driven by a revolving drive source for a workspindle and a tool driving shaft. CONSTITUTION:A motor 5 rotates a cam 43 and a link arm 19, causing swing motion of a tool-holder 3t through a lever 23. The rotation of the cam 43 causes swing motion of a lever 47 through a cam follower 45 which actuates a ratchet mechanism 53, 57 and gives a pitch feed to a workpiece 100. On the other hand, the cam 43 actuates a mechanical valve 105 and then an actuator 91, causing insertion of a locator pin 81 into the tooth space of the workpiece 100. This mechanism provides the exact indexing and positioning of the workpiece by the locator pin without using any special indexing plate or indexing gear.
