Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display cell small in size and weight, and excellent in resistance to dissolution in liquid crystals and heat resistance, by providing a transparent conductive film on one side of a uniaxially stretched polyester film. CONSTITUTION:Transparent electrodes are formed on polyester films or sheets stretched only in one direction by >=5%. The used films are stretched preferably in 50-800% and heat set, and polyethylene terephthalate, polyphenylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, or the like are embodies. As the transparent electrode formed on said film, oxides of indium and tin, or those of tin and antimony, or the like are embodied. A polarizing plate, a reflecting plate, etc. are fixed on both or either side of the liquid crystal cell, and it is desireable to provide a layer subjected sputter etching or oxidization treatment on the other surface of the film.
