Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the propagation of bacteria and fungi grown up on a filter and the aluminum fins of a cooler and consequently prevent foul smell from generating by a method wherein volatile antibacterial and antifungous agent is applied to the dust removing filter equipped at the inside of the suction grill of the air conditioner. CONSTITUTION:In the indoor unit 1 of the air conditioner, air is sucked in from a face cover 2 and the dust removing filter 4 in order to be caught dust and, after that, cooled by the cooler 5, past through a draft passage 7 and blown-off from a blowoff grill 8 into a room by the drafting force of a blower fan 6. The filter 4 comprises a net 4a, for example, made of vinyl chloride fixed to a frame 4b made of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer. Usually about 0.2-0.3% of the antibacterial and antifungous agent (for example alpha-cinnamaldehyde) is used in fibers of the filter or in crude pellets, of which the frame 4b is made, by adding and mixing throughly. The coating by the resin containing said antibacterial and antifungous agent prepared for spreading application can be possible. Because the antibacterial and antifungous agent gradually educes on the surface of the plastics by blooming phenomenon and is weakly volatile, the growing-up of microorganism and consequently the generation of foul smell are inhibited.
