Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain printed charcters of beautiful array in a character output device for outputting characters of different widths in a mixture by providing spaces of widths determined by the character type at the front and rear of the outputted character. CONSTITUTION:When a typing command is dispatched together with a typing character code from a CPU, an I/O port 11 outpus any of character type designation signals S, M, L and further outputs a character code and a start signal. A typing head is driven synchronously with a pulse generated from a pulse generator 21 via the start signal. The start signal resets flip-flops 17, 22, and a selector 15 generates a space code. The number of the space codes is that of the outputs from a counter 25, the outputs of the character codes are produced in the number of the counter 26, and the space codes are generated in the number corresponding to the number of the counter 25.
