Abstract
PURPOSE:To decrease weight and obtain compactness of a multi-cylinder engine in which at least two cylinders are longitudinally and laterally displaced, by arranging a crank of one of the cylinders to a higher position than a crank of the other cylinder. CONSTITUTION:In case of application to a 2-cycle 2-cylinder engine for an autobicycle, each cylinder 2a, 2b is longitudinally and laterally arranged by the displacement respectively by a prescribed amount, and the cylinder 2b is set to a position higher upward by Z than the cylinder 2a. In this way, a step difference is provided for cranks 5a, 5b of each cylinder 2a, 2b. Then of the crank gears 19a, 19b fitted to each crank 5a, 5b, the gear 19a is directly meshed to the first gear 21 of a primary shaft 20 while the gear 19b is meshed to the second gear 22 of said shaft 20 through an idle gear 24, and the cranks 5a, 5b are reversely rotated to each other at a same rotary speed.
