Abstract

PURPOSE:To modify the shapes of rolling materials with a small offsetting amount and bending force, by displacing the work roll offset from the screw- down line connecting the center of intermediate rolls between stay rolls to the front or the rear of the rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:Modifications of shapes of a rolling material 13 in the direction of the width are performed in the following way. Pressure plates 29 and 30 are pressed by lifting or lowering taper wedges 31 and 32 with a fluid-pressure cylinder, and lateral displacements are given to shafts 27 and 28. When the shaft 27 and 28 are displaced, an upper and a lower reinforcing rolls 11 and 12 are displaced to the front or the back of the rolling mill, and an upper and a lower work rolls 7 and 8 are displaced in the same direction through an upper and a lower pressure rolls 9 and 10. Moreover, an upper and a lower intermediate rolls 17 and 18 are moved in the reverse direction along their axis line with a fluid-pressure cylinder. When this arrangement is made, the offsetting amount (e) and the bending force of the rolls 7 and 8 can be minimized.
