Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize a direct and quantitative measurement for the quantity of distortion, by producing such input signal in which the inclination and the working point are controlled independently from each other and then detecting the quantity of distortion of the object to be measured by the input signal.
CONSTITUTION: The output of the bias setting circuit 3 is applied to the differential amplifier 4 along with the output of the saw-tooth wave generating circuit 1 to produce the output (b), and then applied to the differential amplifier 7 via the object 5 to be measured such as the modulator/demodulator and the like. On the other hand, the output (b) is delivered to the terminal 6 through the delay line in the form of the output X of working point, and at the same time applied to the other input of the amplifier 7. The amplifier 7 produces the difference of both signals, i.e., the output Y of the quantity of distortion produced by the object 5 to the terminal 9. The both outputs X and Y are applied to e.g. an oscilloscope to secure a video display of the characteristics for the quantity of distortion. In such way, a direct and quantitative measurement is made possible for the quantity of distortion.
