Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the consumption of electric power by detecting an article to be conveyed by the conveyor and driving the pertinent conveyor only for a set time in the device wherein a plurality of conveyors are connected in series and each of them is driven independently.
CONSTITUTION: The article is conveyed in the direction from the conveyor C1 to the conveyor C3 and, when the tip of the article reaches a detecting device A-B, the output of the receiver B changes and thereby the arrival of the article is detected. According to the detection signal, a motor M2 is started in motion by a driving control board CB2 and the conveyor C2 is driven. And when the rear end of the article passes the detecting device A-B, a timer T2 is started to operate by a signal informing that the article is absent. The operating time of the timer T2 is set in accordance with the total length of the conveyor C2 and the velocity of conveyance. Some time later, when the tip of the article on the conveyor C2 is detected by the detecting device A'-B' of the conveyor C3, the conveyor C3 is started in motion in the same way, while the motor M2 is stopped after the set time for the timer T2 passes over.
