Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase an exhaust brake force by slightly opening during an engine braking, an engine's exhaust valve which contacts a piston pressed under an oil pressure. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust valve 2 disposed inside a cylinder head 1 is in series connected with a rocker arm 3 and a push rod 4 and opened or closed by a cam shaft not illustrated in the drawing. The head of the exhaust valve 2 contacts a piston 7 which reciprocates inside a cylinder 6. An oil in a pressure oil tank 13 is carried into the cylinder 6 via a pump 12 and an oil pressure controller 11. The controller 11 is connected to an amplifier 10 and a sensor 9 for detecting an engine braking. When an engine braking is used, the controller 11 feeds an oil pressure into the cylinder 6 to make the exhaust valve 2 slightly open.
