Abstract

PURPOSE:To identify a right user by recording optical or magnetic information on his or her face picture on a card for automatic teller machines in addition to general magnetic tape recording information and then by performing matching by the face- picture information in transaction. CONSTITUTION:On transaction card 12, magnetic stripe 1 is provided and face picture 2 of card-user's own quantized by an optical or electric method is also copied. In transaction, card 12 is read by reader 14 to obtain data on magnetic stripe 1 and picture 2, which are stored in buffer memories 18 and 17 and during this operation, a face picture of user 11 is taken by image pickup tube 15 and quantized by converter 15 before being stored in buffer memory 16. Pieces of picture information stored in buffer memories 16 and 17 are compared, picture element by picture element or picture-element line by line, and when the difference is below a rated value, they are considered to be identical. Simultaneously, the mnemonic code is also checked and the user is identified, so that the transaction can be brought to effect.
