Abstract
PURPOSE:To always ensure a natural and easy-to-see display of time with no mistake for a fault, by performing a display of short hand with two sets of adjacent segments at the moment when the radiately arranged long and short hands overlap each other. CONSTITUTION:The different 60 sets of radial segment electrodes are driven via the minute counting counter CT1, the 60-notation hour counter CT2 which counts the outpit sent from CT1 in every 12min, the decoders D1 and D2, the driving circuit DR and others. Thus an hour/minute display is carried out with long and short hands. In case the long and short hands overlap each other at 1:05 or other time, the output of AND gate G4 in the control circuit B is inverted to a high level by the outputs of decoders D1 and D2. Thus the short hand segment output r5 given from gate G6 is inhibited, and at the same time driving outputs r4 and r6 to two sets of segment electrodes adjacent to the segments of gates G5 and G7 are delivered from these gates to perform displays for two sets of short hand. Since the display of short hand is never erased, a natural and easy-to-see display is performed without confusing with a failure.
