Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the density of a copied picture accurately by stopping a photosensitive paper and a transfer paper by comparing the output voltage level of a photodetector, which is generated from detecting a photoreceptor and a transfer paper in a defective state for separation, with a set level of the transfer paper in the good state for separation. CONSTITUTION:In exposure for every copy, exposure device 8 exposes even the shade of reference image 7 to the leading edge or tailing edge of photoreceptor 1 outside of the required transfer area to form a latent image, which is developed by developing device 3 to form toner control picture 22 and the image of an original. As photoreceptor 1 further rotates and toner control picture 22 moves to the detection part, the reflected light of infrared rays emitted from light emitting element 20 is detected by photodetector 21, whose output voltage level is compared by comparator 24 with an assigned density level; when the output voltage is higher or lower, the amount of toner supply into developer container 13 is controlled through the operation of oscillatory lever 15 of toner supply container 12 to obtain a picture of invariably constant density.
