Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a title glass by a method wherein a surface of a glass plate is treated by a mixed alcohol solution of fluohydric acid and ammonium molybdate and, subsequently, by a mixed aqueous solution of potassium carbonate and potassium hydroxide to form many fine pores with a molecular size on said surface.
CONSTITUTION: A surface of a glass plate is immersed in or coated by a mixed alcohol solution of fluohydric acid and ammonium molybdate to cause the chemical reaction shown by formulas I and II between silicon dioxide as well as a calcium compound which are main components of a glass and a mixed solution and fine pores with a molecular size are formed on the surface of a glass plate by converting silicon dioxide and the calcium compound to gaseous silicon fluoride. Subsequently, said surface of a glass plate is treated by immersing in or coating with a mixed aqueous solution of potassium carbonate and potassium hydroxide and silicates. Na salts, Ca salts or the like remaining on the glass surface are converted to carbonates to be dissolved and removed.
