Abstract

PURPOSE: To make a PP sheet which has a low directionality and a high modulus of elasticity and is excellent in heat resistance and thermoforming property, by making the crystal orientation axis of the sheet coincident with a sheet receiving direction at the time of melt-extrusion through a T-die and thereafter rolling the sheet under prescribed conditions.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Polypropylene is molten and extruded through a T-die at a draw-down ratio (ratio of T-die slit width to rolled sheet thickness) of 5 or more, or (B) polypropylene containing 0.02W2.0wt% of an orientation accelerator such as a sodium stearate, talc or the like with a mean grain size of 100μ or less is molten and extruded through a T-die, to provide a polypropylene sheet whose crystal orientation axis is made coincident with the drawing direction of the sheet. The sheet is passed through between rolls set at such a temperature that 35W75wt% of polypropylene is molten. The sheet is thus rolled to 1.3W2.5 times of length in the drawing direction so that the crystal orientation of the sheet consists of 30W70% of a-axis orientation and 70W30% of c-axis orientation in the longitudinal direction.
