Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the image of a reversal copy by detecting the surface potential of the latent image of the photoreceptor after charging exposure, controlling the quantity of light according to this potential and controlling and latent image surface potential to the specified potential range.
CONSTITUTION: On a photoreceptor 1, a light radiating device 14 is disposed between an exposure optical device 3 and developing device 8 in adjacency to the exposure optical device 3. In order to control the radiation quantity of the light source 15 of the light radiating device 14, a surface electrometer 16 is provided on the side closer to the exposure optical device 3 than the light source 15 and is so constituted that the quantity of light of the light source 15 is controlled according to the surface potential of the photoreceptor 1 detected by the electrometer 16. In this way, the light of the quantity controlled according to the results of detection by the surface electrometer 16 is radiated by the light source 15 to the electrostatic latent images formed by being exposed by the exposure optical device 3 and therefore the potential of the latent image may be controlled to the optimum potential range having been beforehand selected and the reversal copy of the good image may be obtained.
