Abstract
PURPOSE: To make high-precision measurement possible in the digital system by storing previously data corresponding to gauging lines for respective various kinds of thickness measure object different in density and by comparing these stored data with measured transmission radiation quantities to obtain thickness of them.
CONSTITUTION: X-rays from X-ray generator 1 provided under the passage range of steel plate S to be hot-rolled are detected by X-ray detector 2 and are outputted to signal processing circuit 31. Memory unit 4 consisting of a P-ROM, etc., is provided, and data of gauging lines for respective kinds of steel different in density are stored in memory blocks 4a, 4b...4n of this unit. The gauging line corresponding to the kind of steel plate S is read out to RAM5, and contents of it are inputted to comparator circuit 6 and are compared with the input from processing circuit 31, and the comparison result is outputted to signal processing circuit 32 and is displayed on a display unit as digital (or analogue) data.
