Description
正極と、負極と、電解液とを備えたリチウムイオン二次電池において、
前記電解液が、0.5mol/l以上のLi[(FSO2)2N]と0.5mol/l以上のLiPF6と、LiPO2F2とを含有し、
前記負極が、非晶質炭素を付着または非晶質炭素で被覆した、比表面積が4m2/g以下の黒鉛を負極活物質として含むことを特徴とするリチウムイオン二次電池が提供される。
以下、各構成について説明する。
負極には非晶質炭素が付着または非晶質炭素で被覆した黒鉛が負極活物質として使用される。非晶質炭素が付着した黒鉛とは、非晶質炭素の微粒子を黒鉛粒子と乾式あるいは湿式で混合して黒鉛粒子の表面に非晶質炭素微粒子を付着させることで得ることができる。非晶質炭素で黒鉛を被覆するには、黒鉛粒子表面に非晶質炭素をCVD法などで被覆する方法や、非晶質炭素前駆体を含む水溶液中に黒鉛粒子を投入し、水熱合成する方法などが挙げられる。以下、非晶質炭素が付着または非晶質炭素で被覆した黒鉛を、まとめて「非晶質炭素被覆黒鉛」ということがある。
また、非晶質炭素被覆黒鉛の平均粒径が1μm以上30μmであることが好ましい。平均粒径は20μm以下であることがより好ましく、16μm以下であることがさらに好ましい。ここで、平均粒径は、レーザー回折散乱法による粒度分布(体積基準)における積算値50%での粒径(メジアン径:D50)を意味する。
なお、比表面積と平均粒径の間には効果にある程度影響する相関があり、平均粒径が大きいものは比表面積が小さい方が好ましい。これは、平均粒径が大きくなることで見かけの表面積が大きくなるためである。
正極は、例えば、正極活物質、結着剤及び溶媒、さらに必要により導電補助材を含むスラリーを調製し、これを正極集電体上に塗布し、乾燥し、必要に応じて加圧することにより、正極集電体上に正極活物質層を形成することにより作製できる。
電解液としては、1種又は2種以上の非水溶媒に、リチウム塩を溶解させた非水系電解液を用いることができる。非水溶媒としては、特に制限されるものではないが、例えばエチレンカーボネート(EC)、プロピレンカーボネート(PC)、ブチレンカーボネート(BC)、ビニレンカーボネート(VC)などの環状カーボネート;ジメチルカーボネート(DMC)、ジエチルカーボネート(DEC)、エチルメチルカーボネート(EMC)、ジプロピルカーボネート(DPC)などの鎖状カーボネート;ギ酸メチル、酢酸メチル、プロピオン酸エチルなどの脂肪族カルボン酸エステル;γ-ブチロラクトンなどのγ-ラクトン;1,2-エトキシエタン(DEE)、エトキシメトキシエタン(EME)などの鎖状エーテル;テトラヒドロフラン、2-メチルテトラヒドロフランなどの環状エーテルが挙げられる。その他、非水溶媒として、ジメチルスルホキシド、1,3-ジオキソラン、ジオキソラン誘導体、ホルムアミド、アセトアミド、ジメチルホルムアミド、アセトニトリル、プロピオニトリル、ニトロメタン、エチルモノグライム、リン酸トリエステル、トリメトキシメタン、スルホラン、メチルスルホラン、1,3-ジメチル-2-イミダゾリジノン、3-メチル-2-オキサゾリジノン、プロピレンカーボネート誘導体、テトラヒドロフラン誘導体、エチルエーテル、1,3-プロパンスルトン、アニソール、N-メチルピロリドンなどの非プロトン性有機溶媒を用いることもできる。
電解液中のリチウム塩の濃度としては、LiFSI及びLiPF6の濃度は共に0.5mol/L以上である。LiFSI及びLiPF6のいずれか一方の濃度が0.5mol/L未満であると、比表面積4m2/g以下の非晶質炭素被覆黒鉛を使用し、さらにLiPO2F2を電解液に添加したとしても、優れた充電レート特性は達成できない。LiFSI及びLiPF6の濃度は、それぞれ、0.55mol/L以上が好ましく、0.65mol/L以上がより好ましい。全リチウム塩の濃度は、溶解性とイオン伝導度の観点から、1mol/L~3mol/Lが好ましく、1.1mol/L~1.5mol/Lがより好ましい。
さらに、本発明にかかる電解液は、添加剤としてLiPO2F2を含む。LiPO2F2の添加量は、電解液中0.005~7質量%であることが好ましく、0.5~5質量%がより好ましい。
正極と負極との間にはセパレータを設けることができる。このセパレータとしては、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン等のポリオレフィン、ポリフッ化ビニリデン等のフッ素樹脂、ポリイミド等からなる多孔性フィルムや織布、不織布を用いることができる。
電池形状としては、円筒形、角形、コイン型、ボタン型、ラミネート型が挙げられる。ラミネート型の場合、正極、セパレータ、負極および電解質を収容する外装体としてラミネートフィルムを用いることが好ましい。このラミネートフィルムは、樹脂基材と、金属箔層、熱融着層(シーラント)を含む。この樹脂基材としては、ポリエステルやナイロンが挙げられ、この金属箔層としては、アルミニウム、アルミニウム合金、チタン箔が挙げられる。熱溶着層の材質としては、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレンテレフタレート等の熱可塑性高分子材料が挙げられる。また、樹脂基材層や金属箔層はそれぞれ1層に限定されるものではなく2層以上であってもよい。汎用性やコストの観点から、アルミニウムラミネートフィルムが好ましい。
黒鉛を1Mスクロース水溶液に浸漬し、ミキサーで10分混合した。その後、真空ろ過により固形分を分離し、その固形分を窒素雰囲気下で1000℃3時間の熱処理を行って非晶質炭素で被覆した。得られた凝集体を粉砕して、所定の平均粒径を有する炭素材料を得た。被覆した非晶質炭素の厚みは、透過型電子顕微鏡で観察したところ約30nmだった。
負極に非晶質炭素で被覆した黒鉛、正極にLiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2(略称:NCM111)を用い、EC/DMC/EMC=2/4/4(容量比)からなる溶媒にLiFSI塩、LiPF6塩、LiPO2F2を溶解した電解液を用いたセルを作製した。黒鉛の粒径と比表面積、LiFSI、LiPF6塩濃度、LiPO2F2濃度を下記表1に示す。なお、正極及び負極は以下の方法で製造し、多孔質ポリプロピレンセパレータを介して活物質面を対向させて重ね合わせ電極素子とし、これをアルミラミネートフィルムからなる外装容器中に電解液とともに封入してテスト用セルを作製した。
非晶質炭素被覆黒鉛、カルボキシメチルセルロース(CMC)、スチレン-ブタジエン共重合体(SBR)、カーボンブラックを92:2:2:4の質量比で混合し、水とNMPの混合溶媒に分散し負極スラリーを調製した。この負極スラリーを負極集電体として20μm厚のCu箔上に塗布し、乾燥、圧縮して負極を得た。
平均粒径10μmのNMC111、PVdF及びカーボンブラックを89:4:7の質量比で混合し、NMP中に分散して正極スラリーを調製した。この正極スラリーを15μm厚のAl箔に塗布し、乾燥、圧縮して正極を得た。
実施例1~3と実施例4を比較すると、黒鉛の粒径が20μm以下のときに充電レート特性が優れ、さらに16μm以下のときにより優れる。
実施例4~6と比較例3~4を比較すると、LiFSIとLiPF6がいずれも0.5mol/l以上のときに60%以上の充電レート特性が得られ、さらにいずれも0.55mol/l以上のときにより優れる。
実施例4と比較例5を比較すると、電解液にLiPO2F2が含まれると60%以上の充電レート特性が得られることがわかる。
このように、160Wh/kgという高エネルギー密度で、充電レート特性の両立が図れることが確認された。
この出願は、2016年6月13日に出願された日本出願特願2016-117204を基礎とする優先権を主張し、その開示の全てをここに取り込む。
Claims (5)
- 正極と、負極と、電解液とを備えたリチウムイオン二次電池において、
前記電解液が、0.55mol/l以上のLi[(FSO2)2N]と0.55mol/l以上のLiPF6と、LiPO2F2とを含有し、
前記LiPO2F2の電解液中の含有量が0.005~7質量%であり、
前記電解液の溶媒が、エチレンカーボネート(EC)とジメチルカーボネート(DMC)とエチルメチルカーボネート(EMC)の三元系溶媒であり、
前記負極が、非晶質炭素を付着または非晶質炭素で被覆した、比表面積が3~4m2/gの黒鉛を負極活物質として含み、
前記負極活物質の平均粒子径が、1~16μmであることを特徴とするリチウムイオン二次電池。 - 前記三元系溶媒の体積比EC/DMC/EMCをx:y:zとするとき、xは5~50容量%、yは5~90容量%、zは5~90容量%(ただし、x+y+z=100容量%)である請求項1に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記正極が、正極活物質としてリチウム複合酸化物を含む請求項1又は2に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記リチウム複合酸化物が層状構造を有する複合酸化物である請求項3に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
- 前記層状構造を有する材料がリチウム-コバルト-ニッケル-マンガン複合酸化物である請求項4に記載のリチウムイオン二次電池。
