Description
(a)カーボネート系化合物と揮発性溶媒が混合された溶媒で、多孔性炭素材を撹拌処理した後で乾燥する段階;及び(b)多孔性炭素材に硫黄を混合した後、加熱溶融方法で硫黄を担持する段階;を含む硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法を提供する。
ここで、本発明では、硫黄−炭素複合体と電解液との反応性、及びリチウム−硫黄電池の容量及び効率特性の改善効果を確保するために、β−単斜晶系硫黄相(β−monoclinic sulfur phase)の硫黄を硫黄−炭素複合体に担持させる硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法を提供する。
本発明の硫黄−炭素複合体は、製造時にカーボネート系化合物をドーパントで使って溶融拡散(melt diffusion)させることで、硫黄−炭素複合体の多孔性炭素材の内部及び外部表面の中で少なくとも一部に含まれた硫黄の相(phase)がβ−単斜晶系硫黄相(β−monoclinic sulfur phase)に変化し、これによって、本発明の硫黄−炭素複合体はβ−単斜晶系硫黄相(β−monoclinic sulfur phase)の硫黄を含むようになる。
本発明で示す硫黄−炭素複合体は、リチウム−硫黄電池の正極活物質として好ましく使用可能である。
本発明の一実施例として、リチウム−硫黄電池は上述したリチウム−硫黄電池用正極;負極活物質としてリチウム金属またはリチウム合金を含む負極;上記正極と負極の間に介在される分離膜;及び上記負極、正極及び分離膜に含浸されていて、リチウム塩と有機溶媒を含む電解質を含んでもよい。
硫黄−炭素複合体の製造
[実施例1]
プロピレンカーボネート0.3gとエタノール6gを混合して溶媒を用意した。以後、カーボンナノチューブ0.5gを上記溶媒に混合した後、乳鉢で15分間撹拌した後、110℃のオーブンで30分間乾燥した。乾燥したカーボンナノチューブと硫黄1.5gを乳鉢でミキシング(mixing)した後、155℃で30分間溶融拡散(melt diffusion)させて硫黄−炭素複合体を製造した。
プロピレンカーボネート0.3gとエタノール6gを混合して溶媒を用意した。以後、カーボンナノチューブ0.5g及び硫黄1.5gを上記溶媒に混合した後、乳鉢で15分間撹拌した。以後、乾燥したカーボンナノチューブを乳鉢でミキシング(mixing)した後、155℃で30分間溶融拡散(melt diffusion)させて硫黄−炭素複合体を製造した。
カーボンナノチューブと硫黄1.5gを乳鉢でミキシング(mixing)した後、155℃で30分間溶融拡散(melt diffusion)させて硫黄−炭素複合体を製造した。
実施例1ないし実施例2及び比較例1で製造された硫黄−炭素複合体に対し、TGA(Thermogravimetric analysis、Mettler−Toledo、TGA2)分析を行い、その結果を図1に示し、より拡大した結果を図2に示す。
実施例1ないし実施例2及び比較例1で製造された硫黄−炭素複合体に対し、X線回折分析(X−ray DiffractionSpectroscopy、Mettler−Toledo、TGA2)分析を行い、その結果を図3に示す。
実施例1ないし2及び比較例1で製造された硫黄−炭素複合体を利用して、硫黄−炭素複合体:導電材:バインダー=90:5:5の重量比でスラリーを製造した後、20μm厚さのアルミニウムホイルの集電体にコーティングして電極を製造した。この時、導電材はカーボンブラックを、バインダーはスチレンブタジエンゴム、カルボキシメチルセルロースを用いた。製造された電極を50℃オーブンで一晩で乾燥し、リチウム−硫黄電池用正極を製造した。

前記カーボネート系化合物は、プロピレンカーボネート(Propylene carbonate)、メチレンカーボネート(methylene carbonate)、エチレンカーボネート(ethylene carbonate)及びブチレンカーボネート(butylene carbonate)からなる群から選択されるいずれか一つ以上である、硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。 - 前記カーボネート系化合物は、プロピレンカーボネートである、請求項1に記載の硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記多孔性炭素材は、グラファイト、グラフェン、カーボンブラック、カーボンナノチューブ、炭素繊維及び活性炭からなる群から選択された1種以上である、請求項1又は2に記載の硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記揮発性溶媒は、エタノール及びテトラヒドロフラン(THF)からなる群から選択されるいずれか一つ以上である、請求項1から3の何れか一項に記載の硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記カーボネート系化合物と揮発性溶媒が混合された溶媒は、混合された溶媒全体を基準にしてカーボネート系化合物が0.1ないし10重量%で含まれる、請求項1から4の何れか一項に記載の硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記硫黄−炭素複合体内に含まれる硫黄の中でβ−単斜晶系硫黄相(β−monoclinic sulfur phase)の割合が硫黄全体モル比を基準にして90%以上である、請求項1から5の何れか一項に記載の硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記硫黄と多孔性炭素材を9:1ないし5:5の重量比で混合する、請求項1から6の何れか一項に記載の硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。
- (a)カーボネート系化合物と揮発性溶媒が混合された溶媒で、多孔性炭素材及び硫黄を混合して、撹拌処理した後で乾燥する段階;及び
(b)多孔性炭素材を加熱溶融方法で硫黄を担持する段階;を含み、
前記カーボネート系化合物は、プロピレンカーボネート(Propylene carbonate)、メチレンカーボネート(methylene carbonate)、エチレンカーボネート(ethylene carbonate)及びブチレンカーボネート(butylene carbonate)からなる群から選択されるいずれか一つ以上である、硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。 - 前記カーボネート系化合物は、プロピレンカーボネートである、請求項8に記載の硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記多孔性炭素材は、グラファイト、グラフェン、カーボンブラック、カーボンナノチューブ、炭素繊維及び活性炭からなる群から選択された1種以上である、請求項8又は9に記載の硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記揮発性溶媒は、エタノール及びテトラヒドロフラン(THF)からなる群から選択されるいずれか一つ以上である、請求項8から10の何れか一項に記載の硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記カーボネート系化合物と揮発性溶媒が混合された溶媒は、混合された溶媒全体を基準にしてカーボネート系化合物が0.1ないし10重量%で含まれる、請求項8から11の何れか一項に記載の硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記硫黄−炭素複合体内に含まれる硫黄の中でβ−単斜晶系硫黄相(β−monoclinic sulfur phase)の割合が硫黄全体モル比を基準にして90%以上である、請求項8から12の何れか一項に記載の硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 前記硫黄と多孔性炭素材を9:1ないし5:5の重量比で混合する、請求項8から13の何れか一項に記載の硫黄−炭素複合体の製造方法。
- 多孔性炭素材;及び
前記多孔性炭素材の内部及び表面の中で少なくとも一部に硫黄を含む硫黄−炭素複合体において、
前記硫黄−炭素複合体内に含まれる硫黄の中でβ−単斜晶系硫黄相(β−monoclinic sulfur phase)の割合が硫黄全体モル比を基準にして90%以上である、硫黄−炭素複合体。 - 前記硫黄−炭素複合体内に含まれる硫黄の中でβ−単斜晶系硫黄相(β−monoclinic sulfur phase)の割合が硫黄全体モル比を基準にして95%以上である、請求項15に記載の硫黄−炭素複合体。
