Description
本出願は、2008年5月13日に出願された米国仮特許出願第61/053,001号の出願日の利得を主張するものであり、この開示内容は、参照することによって、ここに含まれるものとする。
本技術は、整形外科手術に関する。具体的には、本技術は、柔軟性、強度、および局部的な圧縮力に対する耐性の組合せをもたらすように、補強構成材および柔軟構成材から形成された脊椎ロッドに関する。さらに詳細には、本技術は、必要に応じて種々のレベルの柔軟性および剛性をもたらすように設計された種々の形態で製造されることが可能なチタンおよびポリエーテルエーテルケトン(PEEK)の複合物を提供している。
Claims (16)
- 脊椎ロッドにおいて、
細長の柔軟構成材と、
圧縮力による損傷に対する耐性を有する補強構成材と、
を備えており、
前記補強構成材は、上側ブラケットと、対向している下側ブラケットと、前記ブラケット間に延在している接続ピンと、を備えていることを特徴とする脊椎ロッド。 - 前記補強構成材は、少なくとも1つの圧縮溝を画定するように、前記柔軟構成材の少なくとも一部の周りに周方向に配置されていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の脊椎ロッド。
- 前記補強構成材は、前記柔軟構成材と前記補強構成材との間に空間を画定するように、前記柔軟構成材の少なくとも一部の周りに周方向に配置されていることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の脊椎ロッド。
- 前記補強構成材は、取付け具との接触を容易にするように構成されたネジ接触面を備えていることを特徴とする、請求項2に記載の脊椎ロッド。
- 前記接触面は、椎弓根ネジとの接触を容易にするように処理されていることを特徴とする、請求項4に記載の脊椎ロッド。
- 前記補強構成材は、前記柔軟構成材の表面内に少なくとも部分的に埋設されていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の脊椎ロッド。
- 前記接続ピンは、前記柔軟構成材内を横断して配置されており、前記接続ピンの各端は、前記上側ブラケットまたは前記下側ブラケットの方を向いており、前記上側ブラケットおよび前記接続ピンまたは前記下側ブラケットおよび前記接続ピンの少なくとも1つは、圧縮空間を画定していることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の脊椎ロッド。
- 前記上側ブラケットおよび前記下側ブラケットの少なくとも1つは、前記柔軟構成材の表面内に少なくとも部分的に埋設されていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の脊椎ロッド。
- 前記上側ブラケットおよび前記下側ブラケットの少なくとも1つの縁は、テーパが付されており、前記テーパ付き縁は、下に位置する前記柔軟構成材に対する圧縮応力遮蔽の勾配をもたらすものであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の脊椎ロッド。
- 前記補強構成材は、少なくとも2つの個別の補強要素であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の脊椎ロッド。
- 前記柔軟構成材は、その長さの少なくとも一部に沿って柔軟性の勾配を有していることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の脊椎ロッド。
- 前記柔軟構成材は、複数の区域を有しており、1つの区域の柔軟性は、少なくとも1つの他の区域の柔軟性と異なっていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の脊椎ロッド。
- 互いに隣接する椎骨を接続し、安定化させるのに用いられるキットにおいて、
請求項1の少なくとも1つの脊椎ロッドと、
少なくとも1つの椎弓根ネジと、
を備えていることを特徴とするキット。 - 前記少なくとも1つの脊椎ロッドは、多数の脊椎ロッドであり、前記少なくとも1つの椎弓根ネジは、多数の椎弓根ネジであり、前記キットは、前記脊椎ロッドおよび前記椎弓根ネジの使用に関連する少なくとも1つの器具または工具をさらに備えていることを特徴とする、請求項13に記載のキット。
- 前記細長の柔軟構成材は、第1の材料を含み、前記補強構成材は、前記第1の材料よりも剛性が高い第2の材料を含んでいることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の脊椎ロッド。
- 前記第1の材料は、PEEKおよび炭素繊維強化PEEKからなる群から選択され、前記第2の材料は、金属およびセラミックからなる群から選択されることを特徴とする、請求項15に記載の脊椎ロッド。
