Description
図1は、有機EL装置の電気的な構成を示す等価回路図である。以下、有機EL装置の構成を、図1を参照しながら説明する。
図5は、有機EL装置の製造方法を示す工程図である。図6は、有機EL装置の製造方法のうち一部の工程を示す模式断面図である。以下、有機EL装置の製造方法を、図5及び図6を参照しながら説明する。なお、図6は、回路素子層43などの図示を省略している。
上記したように、バンク62上に形成された第3陽極24Bと駆動用TFT23のドレイン領域48とは、1つのコンタクトホール68で電気的に接続することに限定されず、図7に示すような、二段のコンタクトホールによって接続するようにしてもよい。図7は、変形例の有機EL装置の構造を示す模式断面図である。
上記した実施形態のように、機能層26を挟持する電極は、基板31側が陽極であり封止基板側が陰極である構造に限定されず、基板31側が陰極であり封止基板側が陽極である構造(リバース構造)でもよい。
上記したように、信号線13、電源線14、駆動用TFT23などを均等の間隔で配置していることに限定されず、例えば、塗布法で形成するR(赤色)とG(緑色)の発光素子領域には、機能層26などを平坦化させるために、これらを発光素子領域の下方に配置しないよう、バンクの形成領域をRGBの発光素子領域において偏らせるようにしてもよい。言い換えれば、B(青色)の発光素子領域の下方に配線やTFTなどを集中して配置するようにする。これによれば、塗布法で形成した機能層26の厚みが略均一になるので、発光品質を向上させることができる。
上記したように、トップエミッション構造の有機EL装置11を例に説明してきたが、上記構造を、ボトムエミッション構造の有機EL装置に採用するようにしてもよい。なお、ボトムエミッション構造は、配線などによって光が遮蔽される領域が多くなるので、トップエミッション構造に上記構造を適用することが望ましい。
Claims (3)
- 基板上の第1電極を囲むように設けられた隔壁と、
前記隔壁の開口部に設けられた赤色及び緑色の少なくとも一方を発光する第1発光層と、
前記隔壁上に設けられた前記第1電極と極性が同じ第2電極と、
前記第2電極を含む前記基板上の全体に設けられた青色を発光する第2発光層と、
前記第2発光層を覆うように設けられた前記第1電極及び前記第2電極と極性が異なる第3電極と、
を備え、
前記基板と前記隔壁との間に前記第2発光層の発光を制御するトランジスターが設けられており、
前記第2電極と前記トランジスターとが、少なくとも2段のコンタクトホールによって電気的に接続されていることを特徴とする有機EL装置。 - 請求項1に記載の有機EL装置であって、
前記第1発光層は塗布膜で構成されており、
前記第2発光層は蒸着膜で構成されていることを特徴とする有機EL装置。 - 請求項1または請求項2に記載の有機EL装置であって、
前記隔壁は、前記基板上の駆動回路と、前記駆動回路と接続された配線と、キャパシタと、を含む領域と平面的に重なる領域に設けられていることを特徴とする有機EL装置。
