Description
本発明は、上述したような従来構成における問題点を解決するものであり、外部短絡等に加え、予め想定された温度範囲を超える異常な高温環境下に曝される等の外的な要因に対しても電池の信頼性を確実に高め、併せて内部短絡に起因する急激な温度上昇が生じても極めて高い信頼性を奏するセパレータを備えた電池を提供するものであり、併せて電池特性の改善に寄与するセパレータを備えた電池を提供するものである。

めには、吸湿量が1〜5%の範囲にある無機化合物を使用することが好ましい。吸湿量が過度に大きい無機化合物を使用すると、逆に電池用セパレータをリチウム二次電池に組み込んだ際に水分を電池内部に持ち込む可能性があるので好ましくない。なお、この吸湿量は、湿度90%の環境下、24時間放置した際の重量増分として算定している。
また本実施形態において、負極材料としては、リチウム、リチウムを含有する合金、炭素材料、金属酸化物を挙げることができる。負極材料としては、リチウム金属、リチウム金属に近いような電位を示す材料が、活性とエネルギー密度が高いことから、本発明に係るセパレータを用いることにより電池の信頼性を格段に向上させるものである。また、黒鉛、難黒鉛性炭素などの炭素系材料、シリコン、スズ、ゲルマニウム、アルミニウムなどとのリチウム合金、一酸化ケイ素、一酸化スズ、一酸化コバルトなどを主体とするリチウムに対して1V未満で反応する酸化物、スピネル型のリチウムチタン酸化物、五酸化ニオブ、二酸化タングステンなどのリチウムに対して1V以上で反応する酸化物も適用可能な
材料として挙げられる。
図1は、本発明の実施例及び比較例で作製した円筒形の非水電解液二次電池の構造図である。正極板1は、正極活物質であるLiCoO2を90質量%、導電材であるアセチレンブラックを3質量%、結着剤であるポリフッ化ビニリデンを7質量%の比率で混合したものに、溶媒としてN−メチルー2−ピロリドンを加え、正極スラリーとした。この正極スラリーを厚さ20μmのアルミニウム箔の両面に塗布した後、乾燥し加圧成型することで正極板1を得た。また負極板2は、負極活物質として人造黒鉛を90質量%、導電材であるカーボンブラックを3質量%、結着剤であるポリフッ化ビニリデンを7質量%の比率にて混合したものに、溶媒としてN−メチル−2−ピロリドンを加え、負極スラリーとした。この負極スラリーを、厚さ15μmの銅箔の両面に塗布した後、乾燥し加圧成型することにより負極板2を得た。
の硫酸マグネシウム(MgSO4・5Mg(OH)2・3H2O)を20質量%含有したポリエチレン有機樹脂からなる厚さ30μmのセパレータを用いて作製した。このセパレータ以外は、参考電池1と同じ構成である。
(実施例2)
実施例1における正極板1の活物質であるLiCoO2に替えて、LiMn2O4を活物
質として、他の構成は実施例1と同様にした正極板を得た。さらにこの正極板を用い、発明電池3と同じ構成を採用した発明電池4を作製した。
分から水分が浸入したことに起因すると思われる。比較電池3では、この水分と電解液の溶質(LiPF6)の反応によりフッ酸が生成して、マンガンイオンの溶解反応が進行して容量劣化した。一方、本発明電池4は高い維持率を示しており、水分に起因する酸の反応が抑制されている。
(実施例3)
実施例3では、正極活物質として二酸化マンガンを用い、負極活物質としてリチウムを用いた発明電池5を作製した。正極板1は、活物質として二酸化マンガンを87質量%、導電材としてカーボンブラックを7質量%、結着剤としてフッ素樹脂6質量%の比率で混合し、シート状に成形した。これを帯状のステンレス製ラス芯体の両面に重ねて圧延し、正極板1を得た。負極板2は、アルミニウムを3質量%の比率で含有するリチウム合金を用い、負極板2とした。また、電解液として、エチレンカーボネート(EC)とγ‐ブチルラクトン(GBL)を1:3の体積比で混合した混合溶媒に、溶質としてリチウムビスパーフルオロメタンスルホン酸リチウムイミドを1mol/lの比率で溶解させて作製した。
さ30μmのものを用いた。他の構成は、実施例1の参考電池1と同様である。併せて、発明電池6として、リチウムアルミニウム合金に替えてリチウム金属を用いた電池を作製した。

- 正負極がセパレータを介して対向配置された発電要素を、非水電解液と共に電池容器内に収容した非水電解液電池であって、前記セパレータは無機化合物を含有してなり、この無機化合物が結晶水を放出可能な塩基性無機化合物であり、前記塩基性無機化合物が塩基性硫酸マグネシウム(MgSO 4 ・5Mg(OH) 2 ・3H 2 O)であることを特徴とする非水電解液電池。
- 前記塩基性硫酸マグネシウム(MgSO 4 ・5Mg(OH) 2 ・3H 2 O)が、平均繊維径0.5〜1.0μm、平均繊維長10〜30μmの繊維状である請求項1記載の非水電解液電池。
- セパレータを構成する主たる材料がポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリブチレンテレフタレート、ポリフェニレンサルファイド、ポリエーテルエーテルケトン、ポリアミド、ポリイミド、ポリエーテルサルホンから選択される少なくとも一つである請求項1または2に記載の非水電解液電池。
