Description
が具備されており、前記所定の範囲において、前記両方のターゲットから前記集電体に向かって移動する原子群に含まれるリチウムと合金を作らない元素(Mとする)の比率が、前記集電体が移動する方向に減少しており、前記シリコンと、リチウムと合金を作らない元素Mとからなる活物質層に含まれる活物質がSiM x で表される非晶質材料であり、前記活物質層の厚みをTとした場合、前記活物質層における、0.3≦xの範囲にあるSiM x の厚みT1が、T/100≦T1≦T/3であるリチウムイオン二次電池用負極の製造方法に関する。
平均粒径5μmのコバルト酸リチウム(LiCoO2)100重量部に、導電剤としてアセチレンブラックを3重量部混合し、この混合物に結着剤であるポリフッ化ビリニデン(PVdF)のN−メチル−2−ピロリドン(NMP)溶液をPVdF重量に換算して4重量部加えて練合し、ペースト状正極合剤を得た。この正極合剤をアルミニウム箔からなる集電体シートの両面に塗着し、乾燥後、圧延して、正極板を得た。
負極の作製方法は後述する。
上記の正極板および負極板を用いて17500サイズの円筒型電池を作製した。その縦断面図を図6に示す。
以上のようにして製造した電池を、周囲温度25℃において、充電電流40mAで、電池電圧4.2Vまで定電流で充電し、20分間休止した後、放電電流40mAで、終止電圧2.5Vまで放電する充放電を2回繰り返した。2回目の放電容量を初期容量とした。

Claims (8)
- 集電体と前記集電体に担持された活物質層からなるリチウムイオン二次電池用負極であって、
前記活物質層は、シリコンと、リチウムと合金を作らない元素とからなり、
前記活物質層の厚さ方向において、前記活物質層の前記集電体に接している側のリチウムと合金を作らない元素の比率が前記活物質層の前記集電体と接していない側のリチウムと合金を作らない元素の比率より大きく、
かつ前記リチウムと合金を作らない元素が集電体を構成する元素と異なり、
かつ前記活物質層が結着剤を含まないものであり、
前記シリコンと、リチウムと合金を作らない元素(Mとする)とからなる活物質層に含まれる活物質がSiM x で表される非晶質材料であり、
前記活物質層の厚みをTとした場合、前記活物質層における、0.3≦xの範囲にあるSiM x の厚みT1が、T/100≦T1≦T/3であるリチウムイオン二次電池用負極。 - 前記活物質層の前記集電体と接していない側から、前記活物質層の前記集電体に接している側に向かって、リチウムと合金を作らない元素の比率が連続的に増加している請求項1記載のリチウムイオン二次電池用負極。
- 前記活物質層の厚みをTとした場合、前記活物質層における、0≦x≦0.2の範囲にあるSiMxの厚みT2が、T/100≦T2≦T/3である請求項1記載のリチウムイオン二次電池用負極。
- 前記活物質の面積1cm2あたりの容量Cが、0.1mAh≦C≦15mAhの範囲にある請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載のリチウムイオン二次電池用負極。
- 前記活物質層の厚みTが、0.5μm≦T≦30μmである請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載のリチウムイオン二次電池用負極。
- 前記リチウムと合金を作らない元素Mが、チタン、ニッケル、銅、コバルト、鉄からなる群から選択される一種以上であることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載のリチ
ウムイオン二次電池用負極。 - 集電体を連続的に移動させながら、シリコンの単体およびリチウムと合金を作らない元素の両方をターゲットとして用いるスパッタ法または蒸着法を用いて、前記集電体上に前記シリコンの単体および/またはリチウムと合金を作らない元素を構成する原子を、前記集電体上に堆積させることにより、所定の厚みのシリコンと、リチウムと合金を作らない元素とからなる活物質層を前記集電体上に形成する工程を包含し、
前記集電体が移動する方向に沿って、前記リチウムと合金を作らない元素Mのターゲット、次いで前記シリコンの単体のターゲットの順に並んでおり、
前記二つのターゲットそれぞれには、堆積量を調整する手段が具備されており、
前記両方のターゲットから前記集電体に向かって移動する原子群に含まれるリチウムと合金を作らない元素(Mとする)の比率が、前記集電体が移動する方向に減少しており、前記シリコンと、リチウムと合金を作らない元素Mとからなる活物質層に含まれる活物質がSiM x で表される非晶質材料であり、
前記活物質層の厚みをTとした場合、前記活物質層における、0.3≦xの範囲にあるSiM x の厚みT1が、T/100≦T1≦T/3であるリチウムイオン二次電池用負極の製造方法。 - 正極、請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載の負極、前記正極と前記負極との間に配置されたセパレータ、および電解液からなるリチウムイオン二次電池。
