【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は操舵補助力の発生源としてモータを用いてなる電動式パワーステアリング装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
車両用の電動式パワーステアリング装置は、操舵補助用のモータ及び該モータの回転力を舵取手段に伝える減速歯車機構を備えており、操舵手段の回転に応じた舵取手段の動作を前記モータの回転により補助し、舵取りのための運転者の労力負担を軽減するように構成されている。

減速歯車機構はその一端部が前記モータの出力軸に結合される小歯車としてのウォームと、該ウォームの両端部をハウジング内に回転自在に支持する2つの転がり軸受と、前記ウォームに噛合し、舵取手段に繋がる大歯車としてのウォームホイールと、前記ウォームの他端部が挿入される軸受孔を有し、ウォーム及びウォームホイールの回転中心間距離が長短となる方向への移動が可能な円柱形の軸受部材と、該軸受部材を収容する収容孔を有するハウジングと、前記ウォームを軸受部材を介してウォームホイールの方向へ付勢するコイルバネと、該コイルバネを介して前記軸受部材を移動させる操作体とを備え、操作体を操作することにより、前記回転中心間距離を調整し、ウォーム及びウォームホイールの噛合部のバックラッシュ量を少なくして転舵時のバックラッシュによる歯打ち音をなくするように構成されている(例えば、特許文献1。)。

また、減速歯車機構のウォーム歯車等は回転中心線に対しその歯すじが回転方向へ捩じれており、ウォームからウォームホイールへ回転トルクが加わるとき、換言すればモータの回転によって操舵補助する場合、ウォームがウォームホイールの歯すじに沿って径方向へ動くように分力(以下噛合反力と云う)が発生する。この噛合反力によりウォームが径方向へ押圧され、この押圧力により前記軸受部材が前記収容孔内で前記回転中心間距離が長短となる方向と交差する方向へ動き、該軸受部材が収容孔に当接して音鳴りすることになる。このため、前記軸受部材の周面に環状溝を設け、各環状溝にOリングからなる弾性環を挿入保持することにより、軸受部材の動きを制限し、前記した音鳴りをなくするように構成されたものが知られている(例えば、特許文献1。)。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところが、特許文献1のように軸受部材、コイルバネ、操作体及び弾性板が設けられた電動式パワーステアリング装置にあっては、前記噛合部のバックラッシュ量を少なくするために比較的多くの部品点数が必要であり、また、特許文献2のように軸受部材の周面に弾性環が保持された電動式パワーステアリング装置にあっては、前記噛合部のバックラッシュ量を少なくするための部品とは別に前記弾性環が必要であり、特許文献1と同様に多くの部品点数が必要であり、改善策が要望されていた。また、特許文献1、2にあっては、前記回転中心間距離を調整することができない汎用品に比べてウォーム支持部が大形となり、汎用品のハウジングを用いることができなくてコスト高となり、この点でも改善策が要望されていた。さらに、ハウジングの大形化により制約されたスペースへの車両搭載性も問題であった。

本発明は斯かる事情に鑑みてなされたものであり、主たる目的は前記噛合部のバックラッシュ量を少なくするための部品点数を少なくすることができるとともに、ウォーム支持部を小形化できる電動式パワーステアリング装置を提供することにある。また、他の目的は前記回転中心間距離が長短となる方向と交差する方向への動きによる音鳴りをなくすることができる電動式パワーステアリング装置を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
第1発明に係る電動式パワーステアリング装置は、モータの出力軸に連結され、少なくとも反モータ側が軸受により回転自在に支持された小歯車と、該小歯車に噛合し、舵取手段に繋がる大歯車とを備え、前記モータの回転によって操舵補助するようにした電動式パワーステアリング装置において、前記軸受はその中心部に軸受孔を有する筒体と、該筒体の外周部に周方向に離隔して一体に突設され前記小歯車及び大歯車の回転中心間距離が長短となる方向と交差する一方向及び他方向への移動を制限する二つのストッパと、該ストッパ夫々の間の周面に結合され、且つ前記ストッパ夫々の端縁を被覆し、前記回転中心間距離が短くなる方向へ小歯車を押付ける弾性体とを有することを特徴とする。

第1発明にあっては、小歯車の反モータ側を支持する軸受が有する付勢手段によって小歯車を大歯車に向けて押付けることができるため、前記噛合部のバックラッシュ量を少なくすることができる。しかも、軸受は付勢手段に加えてストッパを有するため、前記回転中心間距離が長短となる方向と交差する方向へ小歯車が動くのを制限することができ、この動きによる音鳴りをなくすることができる。また、小歯車の反モータ側を支持する軸受が弾性体及びストッパを有するため、小歯車支持部を小形にでき、小歯車を収容支持するハウジングとして簡単な形状のハウジングを用いることができるとともに、前記噛合部のバックラッシュ量を少なくするために必要な部品の組込み作業性を向上でき、電動式パワーステアリング装置のコストを低減できる。また、ハウジングを小形にすることができるため、制約されたスペースへの車両搭載性を高めることができる。また、小歯車の反モータ側が挿入される筒体と一体にストッパが突設されているため、軸受の構造が簡単であり、電動式パワーステアリング装置のコストをより一層低減できる。また、弾性体は、ストッパの端縁を被覆しているため、ストッパが直接当たることがなく、ストッパによる音鳴りはない。

実施の形態1
図1は本発明に係る電動式パワーステアリング装置の減速歯車機構部分の構成を示す拡大断面図、図2は電動式パワーステアリング装置の全体構成を示す断面図、図3は図1のIII −III 線の拡大断面図である。

電動式パワーステアリング装置は、操舵補助用のモータ1と、該モータ1の出力軸1aに雄形継手部21及び雌形継手部22を有する軸継手2を介して連結される小歯車としてのウォーム3及び該ウォーム3に噛合する大歯車としてのウォームホイール4を有する減速歯車機構Aと、該減速歯車機構Aに繋がる舵取手段5とを備えている。

この舵取手段5は、一端部が舵取りのための操舵輪Bに繋がり、他端部に筒部51aを有する第1の操舵軸51と、筒部51a内に挿入されてその一端部が第1の操舵軸51の筒部51aに連結され、操舵輪Bに加わる操舵トルクの作用によって捩れるトーションバー52と、他端部がトーションバー52の他端部に連結され、減速歯車機構Aに繋がる第2の操舵軸53とを備え、該第2の操舵軸53がユニバーサルジョイントを介して例えばラックピニオン式の舵取機構(不図示)に繋がる。

減速歯車機構Aのウォーム3は両端に軸部3a,3bを有しており、一端の軸部3aが転がり軸受6を介してハウジング7内に回転自在に支持された状態でモータ1の出力軸1aに結合され、他端の軸部3bが円柱形の軸受部材8を介してハウジング7内に支持されている。尚、軸部3aは転がり軸受6の内輪6aに圧入されている。軸部3aの途中には転がり軸受6の内輪6aの一端と向き合い、ウォーム3の内輪6aとの相対移動を規制するフェールセーフとしてのC形リング等の規制環9が着脱可能に取付けられている。
ウォームホイール4は合成樹脂製の環状歯体41と、該環状歯体41の内側に結合された金属製の芯部材42とからなり、この芯部材42が第2の操舵軸53の途中に嵌合固定されている。

ハウジング7はウォーム3を収容し、該ウォーム3の軸部3a,3bを、転がり軸受6及び円筒形の軸受部材8を介して回転自在に支持した第1収容部7aと、ウォームホイール4を収容し、該ウォームホイール4を第2の操舵軸53及び該第2の操舵軸53に嵌合された2つの転がり軸受10,11を介して支持した第2収容部7bとを有する。

第1収容部7aはウォーム3の軸長方向に長くなっており、その長手方向一端部には転がり軸受6を嵌合支持する支持孔71及び該支持孔71に連なるねじ孔72及びモータ取付部73が設けられており、ねじ孔72に転がり軸受6を固定するためのねじ環12が螺着されている。また、モータ取付部73にモータ1が取付けられている。第1収容部7aの他端部には軸受としての軸受部材8を嵌合支持する支持孔74及び該支持孔74に連なり、支持孔74よりも小径寸法の周面を有する後記する移動制限部75が設けられている。

軸受部材8はウォーム3の反モータ側をウォーム3及びウォームホイール4の回転中心間距離Hが長短となる方向へ移動可能に支持ものであり、その中心部に軸部3bが挿入される軸受孔81aを有する小径の筒体81と、小径の筒体81の外側に嵌合固定された大径の筒体82と、大径の筒体82の外周部に周方向に離隔して一体に突設された2つのストッパ83,83と、該ストッパ83,83及び大径の筒体82の外側に加硫接着により結合され、支持孔74に対応する円形周面を有するゴム製の弾性体84とを備えている。

弾性体84は回転中心間距離Hが長短となる方向へ撓み可能としてあり、この弾性体84の弾性復元力によりウォーム3を回転中心間距離Hが短くなる方向へ押付けるようにしてある。この弾性体84の撓みは、例えば支持孔71の中心及び転がり軸受10,11を嵌合支持する支持孔76,77の中心間距離Lを、ウォーム3のピッチ円直径φdのφd/2と、ウォームホイール4のピッチ円直径φDのφD/2とを加算した寸法よりも小さくなるように設定し、ウォーム3の軸部3a,3bを転がり軸受6及び軸受部材8で支持したとき、弾性体84が前記回転中心間距離Hが長くなる方向へ撓むようにするのであるが、その他、軸受部材8の軸受孔81aを回転中心間距離Hが短くなる方向へ偏心させ、ウォーム3の軸部3a,3bを転がり軸受6及び軸受部材8で支持したとき、弾性体84が回転中心間距離Hが長くなる方向へ撓むようにしてもよい。

また、弾性体84はストッパ83,83の端縁を被覆し、ストッパ83,83が支持孔74の周面と直接接触しないようにしてある。さらに、弾性体84は大径の筒体82の一端から他端の近傍にかけて被覆しており、大径の筒体82の非被覆部82aを移動制限部75と当接可能にしてある。

コイルバネ13の付勢力が軸部3aから規制環9を介して転がり軸受6の内輪6aに伝動され、転がり軸受6の軸長方向隙間をなくする。

この実施の形態2の電動式パワーステアリング装置は、支持孔74に嵌合固定する軸受部材8に代えて、第1収容部7aの他端側に回転中心間距離が長短となる方向へ穿設された円柱形の収容孔78を有し、該収容孔78に円柱形の軸受部材15を移動可能に収容してなる構成において、実施の形態1と異なり、収容孔78と第1収容部7aとの間の壁部7cを除去し、収容孔78を第1収容部7a側の周面が切り欠かれた孔とし、さらに、軸受部材15を第1収容部7a側の周面が切り欠かれた軸受部材とし、軸部3a,3bの支持間距離Eを短縮したものである。
