Abstract

Claims (21)
- Xの高電力ディスクドライブ(HPDD)を含む第1のディスクアレイと、ここでXは2に等しいかそれ以上であり、
Yの低電力ディスクドライブ(LPDD)を含む第2のディスクアレイと、ここでYは1に等しいかそれ以上であり、
前記第1と第2のディスクアレイと通信し、前記第2のディスクアレイを利用して前記第1のディスクアレイとの間でデータをキャッシュするアレイ管理モジュールとを備えた独立ディスク冗長配列(RAID)システム。 - 前記HPDDは1つ以上のプラッタを含み、前記1つ以上のプラッタは1.8インチ以上の直径を持つ請求項1のRAIDシステム。
- 前記LPDDは1つ以上のプラッタを含み、前記1つ以上のプラッタは1.8インチに等しいかそれ以下の直径を持つ請求項1のRAIDシステム。
- 前記第1と第2のディスクアレイは前記アレイ管理モジュールと直接通信する請求項1のRAIDシステム。
- 前記第1のディスクアレイは前記アレイ管理モジュールと通信し、前記第2のディスクアレイは前記第1のディスクアレイと通信する請求項1のRAIDシステム。
- 前記第2のディスクアレイは前記アレイ管理モジュールと通信し、前記第1のディスクアレイは前記第2のディスクアレイと通信する請求項1のRAIDシステム。
- 前記アレイ管理モジュールは作動中、前記第2のディスクアレイに対する電力を維持し、作動中にオフモードの前記第1のディスクアレイを選別的に作動する請求項1のRAIDシステム。
- 前記第1のディスクアレイの回りにバイパス経路を更に備え、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記第1のディスクアレイを選別的に迂回してデータを前記第2のディスクアレイに送る請求項5のRAIDシステム。
- 前記第2のディスクアレイの回りにバイパス経路を更に備え、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記第2のディスクアレイを迂回してデータを前記第1のディスクアレイに送る請求項6のRAIDシステム。
- 前記アレイ管理モジュールは第1のLPDD内の最小使用ブロック(LUB)を識別するLUBモジュールを含み、データ記憶要求とデータ検索要求の少なくとも1つを受けた場合に、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記低電力モード中に前記LUBを選別的に第1のHPDDに転送する請求項6のRAIDシステム。
- 書込みデータに対する前記記憶要求中、前記第1のLPDD上に前記書込みデータ用に十分なスペースがあれば前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記書込みデータを前記第1のLPDDに転送し、前記第1のLPDD上に前記書込みデータ用に十分なスペースがない場合は、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記第1のHPDDを起動し、少なくとも1つの前記LUBを前記第1のLPDDから前記第1のHPDDに転送し、前記書込みデータを前記第1のLPDDに転送する請求項1のRAIDシステム。
- 前記アレイ管理モジュールは、前記第1のLPDD上に前記書込みデータ用に十分なスペースがない場合に前記書込みデータが前記LUBより前に使用される可能性があるかどうか判定する適応記憶モジュールを含み、前記書込みデータが前記LUBの後に使用される可能性がある場合は、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記書込みデータを前記第1のHPDD上に記憶し、前記書込みデータが前記LUBより前に使用される可能性がある場合、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記第1のHPDDを起動し、前記LUBを前記第1のLPDDから前記第1のHPDDに転送し、次に前記書込みデータを前記第1のLPDDに転送する請求項11のRAIDシステム。
- 読取りデータに対する前記データ検索要求中、前記読取りデータが前記第1のLPDDに記憶されている場合は、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記読取りデータを前記第1のLPDDから検索する請求項10のRAIDシステム。
- 前記アレイ管理モジュールは、前記読取りデータが前記第1のLPDDにない場合、前記読取りデータが1度使用される可能性があるかどうかを判定する適応記憶モジュールを含み、前記読取りデータが1度使用される可能性がある場合、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記読取りデータを前記第1のHPDDから検索し、前記適応記憶モジュールが前記読取りデータは一度以上使用される可能性があると判定し、前記第1のLPDD上で前記読取りデータ用に十分なスペースがある場合、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記読取りデータを前記第1のHPDDから前記第1のLPDDに転送し、前記適応記憶モジュールが前記読取りデータは一度以上使用される可能性があると判定し、前記第1のLPDD上に前記読取りデータ用に十分なスペースがない場合、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記LUBを前記第1のLPDDから前記第1のHPDDに転送し、前記読取りデータを前記第1のHPDDから前記第1のLPDDに転送する請求項11のRAIDシステム。
- 前記第1のLPDD上に前記読取りデータ用に十分なスペースがあれば、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記読取りデータを前記第1のHPDDから前記第1のLPDDに転送する請求項13のRAIDシステム。
- 前記第1のLPDD上に前記読取りデータ用に十分なスペースがない場合は、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記LUBを前記第1のLPDDから前記第1のHPDDに転送し、前記読取りデータを前記第1のHPDDから前記第1のLPDDに転送する請求項13のRAIDシステム。
- 前記読取りデータが前記第1のLPDDにない場合は、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記読取りデータを前記第1のHPDDから検索する請求項13のRAIDシステム。
- 書込みデータに対する記憶要求中、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記第1のLPDD上に前記書込みデータ用に十分なスペースがあるかどうかを判定し、十分なスペースがある場合は前記書込みデータを前記第1のLPDDに転送し、十分なスペースがない場合は、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記書込みデータを第1のHPDDに記憶する請求項1のRAIDシステム。
- 前記アレイ管理モジュールは更に、データファイルを定期的に前記第1のLPDDから前記第1のHPDDに転送して前記第1のLPDD上で利用可能なディスクスペースを増やすLPDD保守モジュールを含み、前記LPDD保守モジュールは前記データファイルを経年、サイズ、今後使用する尤度の少なくとも1つをベースに転送する請求項18のRAIDシステム。
- 読取りデータを前記第1のHPDDから読み取り、前記読取りデータが順次アクセスデータファイルを含む場合、前記アレイ管理モジュールは前記読取りデータのセグメントを前記第1のHPDDから第1のLPDDに転送するバースト周期を計算し、前記バースト周期は、前記第1のLPDDのスピンアップ時間、前記第1のHPDDのスピンアップ時間、前記第1のLPDDの消費電力、前記第1のHPDDの消費電力、前記読取りデータの再生長、前記第1のLPDDの容量に基づく請求項1のRAIDシステム。
- 請求項1のRAIDシステムを備えたネットワーク付加記憶(NAS)システム。
