Abstract
979,113. Lamps with locating means. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 22, 1963 [Oct. 31, 1962], No. 41213/62. Heading H1F. [Also in Division H2] To correctly orientate a projector lamp, having lead-in pins 3, 4 and 5, 6, the lamp is adapted for use with a bayonet-type lampholder 14 by mounting on the pins an insulating disc 1 whose arcuate contacts 10, 11, each connected to a pair of pins, are arranged to be contacted by the spring plunger contacts 12, 13 of the lampholder 14. A flange on the lamp cap 7, has lugs 2 which are arranged asymmetrically to ensure correct insertion into the slots of the lampholder rim 17. The lamp cap 7 has a keyed spigot 15 which engages the aperture 16 of the disc 1. The pins pass through perforations in the disc 1 and are welded, brazed or soldered, at their ends to the arcuate contacts 10, 11, where the pins pass through the lamp cap 7, they are insulated from it. The lamp is mounted with the disc 1 attached, by insertion against the spring bias of contacts 12, 13 of the lampholder and then rotation until the lugs 2 abut against stops 18, 19. Stops 20, 21 prevent anticlockwise rotation of the lamp. The lamp may contain a mirror.
