Abstract

952,444. Disc brakes. BRITISH RAILWAY BOARD, and GIRLING Ltd. March 14, 1960 [March 14, 1959], No. 8914/59. Heading F2E. [Also in Division B7] In a rail vehicle disc brake, the caliper 10 is associated with the wheeled vehicle and brake shoes 15 of the caliper are adapted to be urged to engagement with flat, annular braking surfaces 16 on opposite sides of and integral with the wheel. The wheel shown in Fig. 1 has a rim 17 which is connected to the hub 11 by a continuous integral web 18, the web being thickened at 19 and provided with flat and parallel braking surfaces 16.
