[Also in Division F1] An electromagnet 20 operating a pivotal valve 9 has an armature 16 mounted on the valve spindle 15 and movable towards the polepieces 17, 18, an energization of the electromagnet, to rotate the spindle 15 against the force of spring 14. The centres of curvature of the end faces 16a, 16b, 17a, 17b of the armature and polepieces are eccentric of the pivot axis so that the width of the air gap between the armature and polepieces varies as the armature rotates.
