Abstract
708,870. Cranes. MIAG FAHRZEUGBAU GES. Feb. 15, 1952 [Feb. 15, 1951; July 9, 1951; Oct. 2, 1951], No. 4110/52. Class 78(4) [Also in Group XXXII] A crane vehicle in which the crane frame is supported at the ends of one axle and by a pivot pin engaging a central bearing in the other axle has rigid connecting means between the second axle and the crane frame and a single operating means therefore. In Fig. 2 is shown a rocking axle 1 having a bearing 2 for a crane frame connected with the chassis by two Hydraulic cylinders and imterconnected by a pipe 7 with a hydraulically actuated valve. The axle is secured against rocking movement relatively to the frame by applying hydraulic pressure to the piston 9 of the valve this pressure may be simultaneously applied when operating the brakes. The valve is normally maintained open by a spring 10 acting on the piston 9 moving in a cylinder 8. Pressure gauges may be included on either side of the valve to indicate the axle loading. The axle may alternatively be secured by mechanical means. In one form the rocking axle has an arm with a slot concentric with the bearing 2 and the frame has a spindle engaging the slot so that when the spindle is tightened the axle and frame are rigidly secured. As shown in Fig. 4, the rocking axle is joined to the frame by duplicated linkages 16, 171, 172 connected to horizontal interleaved links 181, 182 which can be rigidly secured either by a hydraulic piston and cylinder 20 or by mechanical means. The rocking axle may alternatively be connected to the crane frame by having a member contacting the piston 9 also contacting a cam on the undersurface of the jib or jib column, whereby swinging the jib operates the valve.
