Abstract
705,611. Gas turbine plant; jet propulsion plant. FISCHER, R. H. Nov. 27, 1951 [Aug. 24, 1951], No. 19976/51. Class 110 (3). [Also in Group XII] In a gas turbine plant comprising a combustion chamber and a compressor c disposed on opposite sides of the turbine rotor d, substantially the whole of the compressed air is fed through passages b in the turbine rotor to the combustion chamber in which the direction of the flow of said air is reversed whilst a part of the compressed air short circuits the combustion chamber and is used to cool the external surfaces of the turbine blades. The compressor which is of the axial flow or centrifugal type is formed integral with the turbine as shown. The turbine is of the impulse or reaction type and may either drive a power shaft h or feed a jet propulsion nozzle. The combustion chamber comprises an annular air-jacketed flame tube f having air inlet slits j, k as shown together with fuel injectors g and sparking plugs for starting purposes, starting being effected by an electric motor.
