Abstract
580,056. Ratchet gearing. SPREADBOROUGH, E. J., and CLAUDET, Ltd, F. March 24, 1944, No. 5519. [Class 80 (iii)] [Also in Group XIX] A revolution or like counter has a driving shaft e capable of being attached with its either end to the machine, the revolutions of which are to be counted, and arranged to revolve the counting mechanism through an eccentric disc pawl and ratchet device so that the mechanism is rotated in one and the same direction irrespective of the direction of rotation of the driving shaft. The counting mechanism b of known type is enclosed in a casing a and is actuated by a ratchet wheel c which is rotated by a spring-loaded pawl d mounted on an eccentric f carried by the driving shaft e. A spring-controlled check pawl is provided at h. Reciprocations may be counted by mounting on the shaft e an arm connected to the reciprocating member. By increasing the number of teeth in the ratchet wheel, one indicated revolution may be made to correspond to a number of revolutions of the driving shaft.
