Abstract

550,741. Artificial felspar. DOULTON & CO., Ltd., and ALLEN, J. Nov. 12, 1941, No. 14590. [Class 22] Artificial felspar is made by melting together in an oxidizing atmosphere at 1300‹C. or over, an alkali metal salt or oxide with alumina and silica, and/or minerals containing constituents of felspar together with any additions necessary to bring the composition to the desired range which is : silica 60 to 67, alumina 16 to 20, and alkali metal oxides 13 to 15 per cent. Examples specify potassium nitrate, potassium and sodium carbonates, aluminium oxide and hydrate, china clay, quartz, and Cornish stone. The molten material may be run into a water bath and ground to a particle size for ceramic use &c.
