Abstract

513,069. Cutting by fusion. LINDE AIR PRODUCTS CO. March 30, 1938, No. 9656. Convention date, April 24, 1937. [Class 83 (iv)] Comprises oxidizing gas means for cutting off the ends of an ingot, billet &c. P and desurfacing it. A travelling crane C carries a cutting-off blowpipe T and series of nozzles N, supported as in Specification 459,290, for desurfacing. A limit switch 87 disconnects the longitudinal-feed motor 16 when the blowpipe T is moved down by the handle 51. Another limit switch 90 and stops 93 disconnect the lateral-feed motor 24 to prevent over-running. When the first end has been cut off, the sides are desurfaced, successively or simultaneously and then the other end is cut off.
