[Class 4] The tail of the hull of a flying boat is extended straight back in continuation of the streamline form of the main part thereof and the two halves of the tailplane are set at a dihedral angle which may be in excess of 5‹ in order to protect them from being hit by heavy water when taking off or alighting.
