Abstract

368,139. Skis. SILVESTRT, E., 7, Via Previati, Milan, Italy. May 12, 1931, No. 14064. Convention date, May 12, 1930. [Class 132 (i).] Folding skis are formed of two wooden parts 1, 1<1>, Figs. 1 and 2, connected by a metal casing 2 permanently fixed to the member 1<1> and detachably connected to the other. The casing 2 forms a tread for the wearer's shoe to which it is held by screws 4, 5 in side wings 6 and locked by a lock-nut 7. The casing 2 has side ribs 2<1>, Fig. 5, embracing the ends of the ski sections and is retained on the section 1<1> by a bolt 8. A transverse bridge-piece 9 secured to the member 1<1> by a bolt 24 engages a nose-piece 15, Figs. 1 and 6, on a metal head 10 secured to the member 1. The head 10 is provided with a flat surface 19, Fig. 2, and a conical projection 20 which engage a flat surface 12 and a conical recess 11 in the casing 2 the two members being held together by a screw 13, the wedging action between the members 20, 11 forcing the members 9, 15 into engagement. A strap or chain attached to eves 22, 23 hold the sections together when folded.
