Abstract

264,334. Evans, H. D., and Lawrence, E. Feb. 2, 1926. Firebars.-In firebars which have at intervals throughout their length elongated vertical slots 1 extending completely through the bar from top to bottom and separated by narrow integral transverse divisions 2, and in which the side cheeks 3 thus formed have apertures for the admission of air, the apertures 9 in one cheek are staggered in relation to those in the other cheek. Each cheek 3 has an external longitudinal rib 4, the ribs on adjacent bars being adapted to abut one another. Each rib 4 has a longitudinal groove 5 above it and a recess 6 below it, while vertical strengthening ribs 10 are arranged in the plane of the internal divisions 2. The slots 1 taper in width from the bottom to the top of the bar and the apertures 9 are arranged so that there is one aperture in each wall of each slot.
