Die-rolling.-Hollow-ware such as a cannister o is embossed by placing it over one of a pair of complementary embossed or engraved rollers m geared together at e, the distance between the rollers being adjustable by turning a screw h to free the slidable bearing g so that the shaft a can be tilted up on end by rocking the handle l of a cam disc k, loosely mounted on the shaft a and bearing against the shaft b. The bearing of the shaft a in the standard d allows a limited rocking movement. The shaft b is rotated by a handle through reduction gearing f<1>. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the upper shaft a' is supported in bearings q carried on a bracket pivoted at s. A screw u in a fixed boss v adjusts the pass, the left hand bearing q being urged upwardly by a leaf spring x. A lug w on the bracket r works over the end face of the boss v and guides the bracket. The rocking movement of the bracket h about the pivot s is limited so that the gears e<1> remain in mesh and retain register of the rollers t.
