Abstract

A racket frame 10 including an oval shaped looped member 11, a shaft member 12 and a handle 13 is characterised in that the oval shaped member 11 is unsymmetrical with respect to the axis of the shaft 12. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Pelota Racket Frame This invention relates to a racket frame particularly designed for a pelota game.
It is known to provide a racket frame which includes a looped member holding a web of string, a shaft, and a handle. In common practice, the looped member has an oval shape and the axis of the symmetry of the oval shape is usually lies on the same line with the axis of the shaft.
It is an object of the invention to provide a racket frame adaptable for a pelota game and capable of serving with a good playing characteristic.
According to the present invention, a racket frame including an oval-shaped looped member, a shaft and a handle is constructed in such a manner that the oval shaped looped member is unsymmetrical with respect to the axis of the shaft. Advan- tageously, the center of symmetry of the oval shaped looped member is at a distance of 1/12 to 1/20 of the width of the looped member from the axis of the shaft. In playing the pelota game, the racket frame of such configuration possesses a good playing characteristic.
The manner in which the above and related objects are accomplished together with the attending advantages and features of the invention appear more fully from the following detailed description and drawings.
Fig. lisa plan view of the racket frame constructed according to the invention; and Fig. 2 illustrates the comparison for the conventional racket frame and the racket frame constructed according to the invention.
Referring to Fig. 1, there is shown a racket frame 10 which includes a looped member 11, a shaft 12 with a handle 13. The looped member 11 is in an oval shape and is constructed in such a manner that the looped member 11 is not symmetrical with respect to the axis of the shaft 12. Preferably, the center of the symmetry of the oval shaped frame 11 is at a distance of 1/12 to 1/20 of the width w from the axis of the shaft 12.
Referring to Fig. 2, there is shown a conventional racket frame 20 and the racket frame 10 of the invention which are in the same pose for striking a return ball bouncing from the wall of the court along the path near the ground, the positions of the frames being as nearthe ground as the ball can reach. Areas A' and A respectively represent the areas of the frame 20 and frame 10 below the same height h near the ground E. In playing the pelota game, the ball that bounces from the wall of the court usually returns along a path near the ground.
As area A is greater than the area A', the frame 10 has more chance to strike a bounce ball that often returns near the ground.
With the invention thus explained, it is apparent that obvious modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the invention. It is therefore intended that the invention be limited as indicated in the appended claims.
The racket is also suitabie for playing the game of squash.
1. A racket frame which includes an oval shaped looped member, a shaft connected to the looped member and a handle attached to the shaft, characterised in that the oval shaped looped member is unsymmetrical with respect to the axis of the shaft.
2. A racket frame as claimed in claim 1, wherein the center of the symmetry of the oval shaped looped member is at a distance of 1112 to 1/20 of the width of the looped member from the axis of the shaft.
