Abstract

181,500. Davies, N. E. March 16, 1921. Valve-gear.-A four-stroke engine having a hollow stepped piston with internal cooling-ribs compresses in the crank case combustible mixture from the carburettor 11 which is used for charging alternately the combustion spaces 95 and 17 through spring-controlled valves at 21 and 25. The exhaust valves 56, 57 are worked from a shaft 36 by a positive cam 37 through a triangular crosshead 42, links 45, and crossheads 48.
