Abstract
174,954. Hackier, L. Feb. 6, 1922. Valves; valve-gear. - In an engine having a cylinder of two diameters, burnt gases are withdrawn through ports 6 into the annular chamber 7 when the piston reaches the end o:' its outstroke. The gases are discharged through the port 15, when an annular space in a cam-actuated valve 17 registers with a port 11 in the cylinder 2. During the up-stroke of the piston, combustible mixture is drawn :into the crank chamber through a passage 12, annular space 25 in the valve, and inlet port 16. After compression, the pump charges are transferred through a port 13 to the interior 26 of the valve, in which is an outlet port 22 adapted to register with an inlet port 10 in the wall of the cylinder 1. The valve is held by a spring 21 in contact with its actuating- cam 19.
