Abstract
1501174 Blast heating apparatus; burners BROHLTAL-DEUMAG AG FUER FEUERFESTE ERZEUGNISSE 22 May 1975 [27 May 1974] 22135/75 Addition to 1415776 Headings F4K and F4T A blast heating apparatus (for supplying hot air to a blast furnace) comprises a horizontal cylindrical combustion chamber 4 mounted on a dome 2 on a cylindrical jacket 1 which contains a checkerwork 3 of bricks. The combustion chamber 4 comprises a burner, as claimed in claim 1 of the parent Specification, supplied through openings 5 with gas and air respectively from conduits (30 and 31), Figs. 2 and 4 (not shown). Secondary air is supplied through tangential openings 22. Hot combusted gases from the combustion chamber 4 pass into the jacket 1 to heat the checkerwork 3. The gases are given a twist by brick baffles 20 and 25. Thereafter, the heated checkerwork can be used to heat air which is supplied to the blast furnace. This air passes in sequence through opening 35, over the heated checkerwork 3, through the combustion chamber 4 (with the burner out of action), and through a blast conduit 6 (which extends downwardly from the combustion chamber), water cooled valve 10 and pipe 11 to the blast furnace (not shown).
