Description

(54) CONFECTIONERY DISPENSER (71) We, TREBOR LIMITED, a British Company of Trebor House, Woodford Green, Essex 1G8 8EX, do hereby declare the invention, for which we pray that a patent may be granted to us, and the method by which it is to be performed, to be particularly described in and by the following statement:- The present invention relates to a confectionery dispenser or container, more particularly, but not solely to contain pre-packed sweetmeats in the form of rolls, sticks, tubes and flat packs.
According to the present invention there is provided a confectionery dispenser or container comprising at least two opposite side walls, a base and a rear wall, each opposite side wall being provided with a first projection extending in a direction normal to the plane of the side wall and a first hole or recess adapted respectively to engage a corresponding hole or recess or a projection in the side wall of an adjacent similar dispenser, the upper and lower edges of the walls having second projections and second recesses, the second projections and recesses at the lower end of the continer being capable of interengaging the second projections and recesses at the upper end of a similar container mounted beneath said container.
A constructional embodiment of the present invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation of a dispenser according to the present invention; Figure 2 is a rear elevation; and Figure 3 is an underplan view.
The dispenser is preferably a one-piece transparent plastics moulding comprising spaced planar side walls 4 and 5 parallel to each other, a planar rear wall 6 and an internal inclined base or platform 7 for supporting confectionery articles.
Two circular apertures or recesses 8 are provided in the side walls 4 and 5 and two circular dowels 9 with bevelled ends project from the faces of each side wall remote from the other side wall. Thus there is a dowel and an aperture forming a horizontally disposed pair near the upper end of each side wall, the upper dowel of one side wall being vertically opposite to an aperture of the lower pair and horizontally opposite to an aperture in the upper pair of the other side walls. Accordingly, the apertures or recesses 8 and dowels or projections 9 are arranged so that the dowels of one dispenser can engage the apertures of adjacent dispensers to interlock the dispensers side-by-side with the open fronts thereof facing either in the same or opposite directions.
The lower edge of a front wall 10 and the ends of the side walls and of the rear wall are provided with recesses and projections in the form of castellations 11 arranged so that one dispenser can be disposed on top of another similar dispenser with the castellations interengaging. The dispensers are square in crosssection so that the location of one dispense can be any one of four positions on top of another dispenser so that any two adjacent faces of different containers are in the same vertical plane.
A plurality of dispensers can be arranged in stacks, rows, files and/or ranks.
WHAT WE CLAIM IS 1. A confectionery dispenser or container comprising at least two opposite side walls, a base and a rear wall, each opposite side wall being provided with a first projection extending in a direction normal to the plane of the side wall and a first hole or recess adapted respectively to engage a corresponding hole or recess or a projection in the side wall of an adjacent similar dispenser, the upper and lower edges of the walls having second projections and second recesses, the second projections and recesses at the lower end of the container being capable of interengaging the second projections and recesses at the upper end of a similar container mounted beneath said container.
2. A dispenser or container as claimed i claim 1, wherein the first projections are

2. A dispenser or container as claimed i claim 1, wherein the first projections are dowels and the first recesses or holes in the planes of the side walls are shaped to receive the dowels of a similar container.
3. A dispenser as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein the second projections and second recesses in the lower and upper edges of the walls form castellations.
4. A dispenser or container as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the base is an inclined platform for supporting confectionery articles.
5. A dispenser as claimed in any of the preceding claims having a first projection and a first hole forming a horizontally disposed pair in the upper half of each side wall and a first projection and a first hole forming a horizontally disposed pair in the lower half of each side wall, the upper first projection of one side wall being vertically opposite to the first hole of the lower pair and horizontally opposite to the first hole in the upper pair of the opposite side wall.
