Abstract
1423147 Dispenser for flushing cisterns E R HOWARD LTD 6 Sept 1973 [13 Sept 1972] 42423/72 Heading A5G [Also in Division E1] A device for dispensing a first water-soluble material to the contents of a flushing cistern comprises a container partly filled with a solid or pasty water-soluble composition adapted to dispense gradually into the cistern when the device is immersed therein, there being located in the solid/pasty material a quantity of a second material which is a rapidly watersoluble substance and which includes an indicator, e.g. a water-soluble dye. The second material is so positioned that it contacts the water from the cistern, thus rapidly releasing the indicator, only when the first water-soluble material is exhausted or nearly so. The second material may include a CO 2 -producing couple or other material to assist in its disintegration. The first material may include a detergent and/ or disinfectant and a dye (different from that in the second) and there may also be present a third material, which is a cleaning material such as oxalic acid, which may be positioned so that it is released immediately the device is immersed in a cistern. A suitable container for the materials is depicted in Fig. 5 of the drawings accompanying the provisional specn.
