Abstract

1456394 Light guides BICC Ltd 15 Oct 1974 [16 Oct 1973] 48096/73 Heading G2J A connector for coupling optical fibres 5, 7 of different cross-sectional areas in end-to-end relationship comprises a plug 14 to which the fibre 5 is cemented and a flared socket 26 adapted to receive the plug. A layout connection 27, 16 is provided, and a compressible washer 18 in the plug. The fibres may comprise glass or liquid cores with glass cladding, or comprise a single material the refractive index of which decreases radially outwardly.
