Abstract
1338225 Hydroformylation; hydrogenation JOHNSON MATTHEY & CO Ltd 16 Dec 1970 [31 Dec 1969 22 May 1970] 63503/69 and 24933/70 Heading C2C Hydroformylation reactions are effected by reacting an olefinic compound in the form of a gas with H 2 and CO in the presence of a hydridocarbonyl complex of rhodium including a P- containing donor ligand in the absence of an inert solvent but in the presence of a P-containing donor ligand in liquid form. A comparative example uses the olefine in liquid state. Hydrogenation reactions may be effected in a similar reaction system (less CO) and particular reference is made to producing alcohols by turning of the supply of CO at a suitable stage in a hydroformylation reaction.
