Abstract

1323832 Casting brake discs DAIMLERBENZ AG 30 June 1971 [3 July 1970] 30595/71 Heading B3F [Also in Division F2] A disc for a spot-type disc brake comprises a friction disc 6 and a deep-drawn pot-shaped hub 7 provided with a radially-extending flange 8 from which parts 9 are cut out, leaving teeth 10 which are cast into the friction disc 6; each tooth has flanks parallel to each other. The toothed connection ensures efficient transmis- sion of braking torque, circumferentially, while the parallel flanks permit radial thermal expansion without stress. Such expansion is facilitated by coating the teeth 10 with a protective layer which prevents them from becoming welded fast in the friction disc. Preferably friction disc 6 is of grey cast iron and hub 7 is steel sheet.
